CYBERBULLYING (CYBER VIOLENCE) ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND LEGAL LIABILITY

This study examines a pressing socio-legal issue arising from the rapid development of information technologies and social media: cyberbullying (cyberviolence) on social networking platforms, its regulation, and mechanisms of legal liability. The research employs comparative legal analysis, an examination of national legislation and international legal instruments, as well as a study of national and foreign (European) legislative approaches. In addition, a sociological survey was conducted to determine social media users’ level of awareness of the concept of cyberbullying and the measures of liability applicable to such conduct. The findings demonstrate that, under the current legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, online offences are primarily addressed within the framework of traditional legal provisions governing defamation, insult, and violations of personal inviolability. The article concludes by proposing scholarly and practical recommendations aimed at improving the effectiveness of efforts to combat cyberviolence, including the introduction of specific legal provisions, enhancement of the legal protection system for victims, and improvement of the population’s legal awareness and legal culture.
